Best places for hot girl walks in the south

Bringing the hot girl walk trend from Tik Tok to Singapore

Have you been aching to stretch your hip and flex your muscles? Girl, WE got you. For you girls out there who have been cooped up at home for the longest time since COVID-19, we have specially curated these places in the South of Singapore for you to walk around and get the glow up you deserve. These places not only feature picturesque views which offer the best backdrop for your glam shot, but also provide you with the opportunity to escape and unwind from the bustle of life. Get ready your hiking gear and best workout outfits, as we bring you along on this journey to explore the scenic hinterland of our garden city.

Our journey started at Harbourfront MRT (Exit D), where we began embarking on our ascent of Mount Faber, aided by a set of well-maintained hiking trails that featured handrails, which were perfect for the occasional hiker! Contrary to the impressions that many have about the weather in December, the rain certainly did not hamper our progress, and in fact made for a cool and comfortable excursion. Did you know that you can relive history as a seaman? Positioned strategically before the Peak are a few large pairs of binoculars for the eagle-eyed to view Singapore's waters through, a fascinating detail that pays homage to the area's rich links to maritime trade and local defence (for Mount Faber was mooted to serve as a fort, but never came to be), as well as Singapore's role as an entrepôt in a world still fueled by cargo vessels and barges.

At the Peak, you can indulge in a breathtaking view of Singapore’s southern coastline with a scenic backdrop of cable cars heading to and from Sentosa. If you are feeling peckish, do consider making plans for a dining getaway during the evening to soak in the view at any of the dining establishments too. Hiking up a set of colourful Happy Steps, you will find before you a set of two massive bells – the centrepiece of an outdoor gazebo perfect for a romantic wedding. We found that one of the bells was from a Polish ship, the Dar Pomorza, dating back to 1909. It was originally presented as a gift to Sentosa in 1992 and moved to Mount Faber in 2012. The second bell from the Dar Młodzieży ship was presented to Singapore in 2019 to commemorate 50 years of Poland-Singapore relations!

Moving along, we made our way down towards Henderson Waves, the iconic wave-like structure that is actually featured in Singapore Airline’s in-flight safety video! Connecting Mount Faber Peak to Telok Blangah Hill Park, it is accessible from 7pm to 7am daily, and visitors can enjoy a tranquil walk along the ridges with floor-level LED lights that provide warm lighting and zen-like vibes! Even during the day, be prepared to feel overwhelmed by the breathtaking greenery that surrounds the walking trail while you make out the many HDB blocks that make up Telok Blangah’s residential estate. You could even make this your very own walking trail by completing the 10 kilometre-long Southern Ridges trail in which Henderson Waves is a checkpoint!

That’s not all, though! We then made our way to Gardens by the Bay, taking the bus and appreciating the sights and sounds of the CBD. Then, we walked through Marina Bay Sands and reached the Marina Bay Overpass, a pedestrian bridge conveniently linking Marina Bay Sands to Gardens by the Bay. As we walked on, we saw trees and shrubs lining the sides of the bridge, and several people taking group pictures, capturing their happy moments and memories together on camera. Soon enough, the familiar Supertrees began to look larger, taller and nearer to us, and that was when we knew we had finally reached Gardens by the Bay!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… could that be true in hot and sunny Singapore? Well, if you’re looking to experience a winter wonderland and bask in the festive spirit, look no further than Singapore’s iconic Gardens by the Bay! Since 2014, this extravagant display of lights, games, and much more has caught the eyes of many, proving its popularity through the huge crowds boasted each year. Tickets range from $8-$14 for adults, with prices ranging during peak and off-peak seasons. Christmas Wonderland begins at 6.30pm, and ends at 10.30pm every day from 1 Dec to 1 Jan. (All the attractions are open for viewing before 6.30pm, but of course nothing would beat viewing it at night!)

Our journey began at Gate 2, where we were immediately greeted with the towering Supertrees, and various light structures of reindeers, snowmen, polar bears and so much more! A row of snowmen with brooms brought us to a 20m tall Spalliera display, where the intricate handiwork left  both us and our cameras truly stunned! Not too far away were the carnival grounds, home to a humongous Holly Roger ship, made with over 127000 LED lights, sitting in a field of illuminated flowers. Carnival games galore! If you visit GBTB as we did, you are sure to have fun with your friends this Christmas, and maybe even win a life-sized plushie to bring home! You may even get to see Santa Claus and make a Christmas wish (T&Cs apply, only if you have been well behaved this year).

Not yet feeling the Christmas spirit? Fret not, the European-style outdoor markets did just the trick for us! At the market, rows of quaint wooden huts lined the streets, selling various merchandise that we were itching to bring home for ourselves. We also got to walk through the F&B outlets around the area, and it’s safe to say that every guest will leave with their bellies filled! The smell of freshly baked goods, burgers and sweet drinks were enough to make all of us salivate.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without snow! In tropical Singapore, a White Christmas may seem like a pipe dream, but this feat is achieved in the Garden Rhapsody light and sound show! Coupled with the stunning backdrop of the light displays and the Supertrees, foam snow drifts from the night skies during the show, creating a wonder akin to observing actual snowfall. These shows are carried out at 7.45pm, 8.45pm and 9.45pm every day, and last 15 min each so do be quick to whip out your phones to capture this magical moment!

Although this event has bid farewell this year, it will no doubt make a reappearance next year, so do make sure to catch it while it's still ongoing! All in all, we hope that you will take some time to have a hot girl walk in Mount Faber Park, Henderson Waves, and Gardens By The Bay, especially if you live in the south!
